Snapshots: An Italian Creche in Illinois explores the story of a holiday tradition originally presented by owner and publisher of the News-Gazette, Marajen Stevick Chinigo in 1988.

The exhibit features the creche in its restored state which was conducted by Jack Statz, Harry Breen, and Diane Breen in the mid 1980s. Included are over forty figurines, your traditional members in a naivety scene as well as common folk and an array of angels.

The creche became a holiday tradition for community members and employees of the News-Gazette until the early 2000s where it faded from memory after Marajen's passing in 2002.

The holiday display will be available for viewing until the end of January 2024.
