Champaign County History Museum Re-Opens after 18 months of renovation

After 18 months of hard work, the Champaign County History Museum is BACK!  Thanks to the countless volunteers, donors and members the museum was able to reopen its doors with four new and exciting exhibits on April 29, 2017.

On Saturday, April 29th, the rain let up just long enough for Champaign Mayor Deb Feinen, the Board of Trustees and a great group of kids to cut the official ribbon and declare the museum open to the public!

Guests were welcomed into the new lobby space where they can learn about pivotal  events in Champaign County History and browse the books and gifts for sale in the museum shop.

Even Abraham Lincoln was able to stop by and welcome the guests.  After all, this is the only building in West Urbana (Champaign) that Abraham Lincoln would recognize today.

Everyone had fun with the demonstration of the vintage corn sheller in "Champaign County History Uncrated", including board member Delora Sebrecht Noble who's family donated the item!

" A Second Home" takes a look at student life throughout the 150 years of the University of Illinois.
